Kirby MacKinnon of Chatham and Laurin Ainsworth of Erie Beach won silver at an Ontario Volleyball Association beach tournament in the 18-and-under women’s premier division Saturday in Toronto.

After going 2-0 in the round-robin, they swept their quarter-final and won their semifinal in three sets. They lost the final 21-14, 21-13.

Roesch powers Huskies’ win

Winning pitcher Hannah Roesch helped her own cause by hitting three singles in the Kent Bridge Huskies’ 20-2 win over the Enniskillen Express on Tuesday in the Lambton Kent Ladies Fastball League in Kent Bridge.

Roesch allowed four hits while pitching all three innings in the mercy-rule win.

Cassie Whiteye and Aliyah Whiteye each hit a double in the Huskies’ 13-hit attack.

The first-place Huskies (6-0) will visit Wallaceburg at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Red Devils trade Underwood

The Wallaceburg Red Devils have traded captain Aaron Underwood to the Mid West Division-leading Hamilton Bengals in the Ontario Jr. ‘B’ Lacrosse League.

The 21-year-old from Bothwell is in his final junior season. He has 11 goals and nine assists in 16 games.

The Red Devils (3-14-1) have been eliminated from the playoff race. They have the second-worst record in the Western Conference.

They’ll end the season by visiting the Niagara Thunderhawks on Saturday and the Welland Generals on Sunday.
