Ball hockey

Cooney Auto and Crossfit Stratos both swept their best-of-three series to capture the Mill Street Organic Men’s Ball Hockey League ‘A’ and ‘B’ playoff championships, Monday at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.

Cooney Auto edged Janbar Electric 4-3, with Jason Shaw scoring twice and Jacob Panetta addign a goal and an assist, and Brett Jaeger scoring the other goal for the ‘A’ champs.

Dylan Semark scored twice and Jeff MacRae once for Janbar.

In the series opener, Cooney dumped Janbar 4-1.

Panetta scored twice, with Jarrod Gliddon and Evan Greer each scoring once for Cooney. Jason Lott scored for Janbar.

In the ‘B’ final, Crossfit Stratos clipped County Kings 5-4 in the series clincher.

Alex Wilson scored twice for Crossfit, while Rob MacDonald added a goal and an assist, and Rob Finch and Owen Polan, a goal apiece. James Flemming scored twice for County Kings, with Wade Little and Cole St. Pierre.

Crossfit won the series opener 7-3.

MacDonald scored four goals for Crossfit, while Chad Clark and Brad Foote each had a goal and two assists, and Jason Bonisteel, a goal and an assist. Flemming had a goal and an assist for the Kings, with Walker Deroche and Andrew Ward adding a goal apiece.

Tuesday hockey

The Molson Tuesday Night Hockey League is gearing up for its 2019-20 season.

Senior fastball

Tera Vista County Rockies dusted Master Bedroom 6-2 last week in Thursday Night Senior Men’s Fastbal League action in Picton.

Craig Clossen pitched complete game win and Jonathan Wight spanked a solo home run for the Rockies.

At Alemite Field, the MJG Electrical Red Sox doubled up on Duval and Clark 8-4.

Will Claus earned the win on the mound, giving up four hits and five walks while striking out seven in five innings of work. Richard Wright took the loss.

Matt Green double RBI, Curtis Locke hit a home run, a single and a double for three RBIs to lead the Red Sox offence, while Matt Green hit an RBI double, Ryan Foote a RBI single, and Tyler Olsteam homered. Mike Rathwell and Colton Lasher had hits for Duval and Clark.

Barry Danford and Sons spanked Play it Again Sports 9-2, with Adam Danford pitching the win and Ed Bashall taking the loss.

MJG Electric Red Sox hammered Play it Again Sports 12-0.

John Lamorre (one inning, two strikeouts, one walk and one hit), Dale Dowdal (three innings, eight strikeouts) and Zack Goodfellow (one inning, one strikeout, one walk) combined for the shutout win. Rick Bashall took the loss for Play it Again.

Matt Green had a home run and a single for four RBIs, John Lamorre homered and singled for three RBIs, Craig Potter tripled for three RBIs, and Scott Hayes and Nathan Rogers each had a hit and an RBI.

Duval and Clark beat Master Bedroom 6-3, with Brock Fencott pitching the win and Tom Lee taking the loss.

Mike Rathwell, Jacob Either, Colton Lasher, Dan Fencott and Brock Fencott had hits for Duval and Clark.

In Frankford, Tera Vista County Rockies whipped Barry Danford and Sons 8-2.

Dan Wallwork pitched a complete game for Tera Vista and Jonathon Wright and Chad Camp both hit solo home runs in the win.

Youth soccer

The Belleville Dish Salon U18 Comets girls squad edged the Darlington Blizzard 2-1 in Durham Region Soccer League action last week at M.A. Sills Park.

Morgan Hawley and Natasha Luffman supplied the Comets’ goals.

The U13 Comets boys team trounced the Oshawa Kicks 5-0 in the Motor City, with Alexander Reid registering the clean sheet.

Nick Rogers, Daniel Melendro, Gridhar Nair, Maxwell Yarranton and Reid scored.

The U14 Comets boys edged Kingston Clippers Fury 2-1, with Joseph Spinosa scoring both goals for Belleville.

The U13 Comets girls clipped Whitby 2-1, with Alexia Bianchi and Faith Ayres scoring for the Comets.

The U16 Comets girls battled West Rouge to a 2-2 draw, with Emily Manlow and Emily Harvey scoring for Belleville.

The Quinte West U14 Wolverines girls defeated Oshawa Turul Fury 4-1. Scoring for the Wolverines were Taylor Wyngaarden (2), Kaylee Wyngaarden and Caroline Dolton.

The U14 Wolverines girls also whipped Northumberland United 5-1, with Dolton and Regan Fournier both scoring twice and Erika Parker once.

The U17/U18 Wolverines girls dropped a 2-0 decision to the Kawartha Inferno.

Men’s soccer

Motion Specialties dusted Olympians FC 6-1 in Bay of Quinte Men’s Soccer League Labatt 50 Masters Division play last week at M.A. Sills Park.

Kelly Paddon scored twice for Motion, while Bart Harbour, Matt Gariepy, Garry Pearson and Shaun Metzger added single markers. Jorge Tavares scored the lone goal for Olympians.

BFC Royals beat Hellenics 3.5 4-1, with Andrew Norton, Joseph Richardson, Ray Legault and Justin Somerville scoring for Royals. Steven Cook replied for Hellenics.

In Division 1 Cup play, Fury defeated A & E Ceramic Tile & Marble Ltd. 5-3.

Justin Somerville scored twice for Fury, while James Bradfield, Josh Lavigne and Chris Foran added a goal apiece. Sheamus Addy, Brady Wells and Craig Metzger scored for A & E.

Women’s soccer

Quinte Women FC hammered Canadian Tire Belleville 6-0 in Bay of Quinte Women’s Soccer Leageu Division 1 action last week at M.A. Sills Park.

Stephanie McGinn scored four goals and Jillian Cowan scored twice, with Jennifer Jordan earning the shutout.

Quinte Cosmos crushed Astra 6-0, with Vanessa MacDonald picking up the shutout.

Stephanie Semark and Melissa Adair both scored twice, with Hailey Michelle and MacDonald adding single markers.

Freeman’s blanked Belleville Bakery 3-0, with Anne Marie Burns-Keaney earning the shutout.

Allison Demaiter, Jessica Ferguson and Isabella Goneau supplying the goals.

Bridge St. Chiro hammered Quinte Custom Promotions 7-0, with Meghan Peckham registering the clean sheet.

Ashley MacDonald scored twice, while Sarah Stubbert, Lillian Czindl, Melodie Wright, Ella Bannon, and Sharalee Foster added singles.

C.R. Construction trounced Legendz/Moosehead 6-0, with Nicole Loveys picking up the shutout.

Hannah Wilson notched a hat trick for C.R. Construction, while Vanessa Rodgers scored twice and Ellie Anderson once.

Quinte Hearing Centre smoked Brighton 6-1, with Hannah Wilson scoring four goals and Kathleen Burns adding two more. Taylor McCrae scored for Brighton.

McDougall Insurance dumped Family Dental Centre 6-2. Scoring for McDougall were Brooklyn Lonsberry with a hat trick, Christi McKinney with two and Alicia Trumpour. Katie Larry and Lauren Molenhuis scored for Family Dental.
