Cougars win one, lose one

………………………………………………………

The Sault College Cougars women’s soccer team, playing in its first Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) outdoor soccer match, defeated Toronto’s Centennial College 3-2 at Superior Heights on the weekend.

Taryn Gazankas scored a pair of goals after setting up Sarah Ferguson with a beautiful cross.

Gazankas scored her first goal in the 65th minute to tie the game. The winner came on a penalty shot in the 85th minute.

When the Colts were able to break through the back line, keeper Mikaela Caputo was there with some tremendous saves to ensure a Cougar victory.

Meantime, the Cougars men’s team lost 1-0 to Centennial College.

The Colts took the lead just before the half following some miscommunication between the Sault keeper and the defence, and never relinquished it despite numerous surges from the Cougars.
