It is now down to a best-of-five between Innisfail and Stony Plain for a spot in the Allan Cup.

The Innisfail Eagles defeated the Stony Plain Eagles 4-3 on Sunday to tie the Allan Cup Alberta series 1-1 headed into Game 3.

A three goal first period proved to be the difference in the contest despite Stony Plain’s best efforts at a comeback. Lucas Isley put Stony Plain on the board in the first, before Bryan Forslund and Jaret Smith made it close with a goal each in the middle frame.

“Last night we won one on one battles, tonight they won those battles. We didn’t have the start we wanted and they had better compete tonight,” said Stony Plain Eagles assistant coach Matt Strand.

The series will shift to Innisfail for Game 3 on Friday at 8:30, before returning to Stony Plain for Game 4 at 7:30 on Saturday.
