PETAWAWA LEGION: Getting their grill on a few more times this summer

Share Adjust Comment Print

You are down to the last two barbecues for the summer at Branch 517. This week we feature ribs and hamburgers from 4:30 – 6 p.m. and the following week will be a mixture of all we’ve featured at the barbecues throughout the summer. Everyone is welcome to come out so bring the family.

This Saturday, Aug. 17 is the Trooper Marc Diab Memorial Biker Ride in support of War Amps. They will leave from Branch 517 with registration at 8 a.m. Cost to participate is $20 per bike. Riders will return to the Legion in the afternoon for a barbecue and live music that will be continuing into the evening. Everyone is invited to join us for the barbecue and music in the parking lot.

We have a special treat coming up on Sept. 28. Elvis will be in the building and will be bringing Buddy Holly with him! These are great imitators so you do not want to miss this show. Tickets will be going on sale Tuesday so save the date and talk with your friends. They played last year in Cobden to a sold out show. We expect this to sell out fast so buy early.

We made a donation to sponsor a hole in the Soldier On Golf Tournament held at the Petawawa Golf Course. This is a great program that gets military members past and currently serving involved in activities. Money well spent.

Drop by the branch and enjoy some relaxing time on our screened patio or the air conditioned comfort of the lounge. We are open daily except Sunday.

Join us on the web at: www.petawawalegion.ca or on Facebook at Petawawa Royal Canadian Legion Br 517.

Helene Hahn is the Br. 517 public relations officer.
