E.U. and U.S. have beef deal

The European Union and the United States have agreed on a proposal that would improve terms for beef trade.

But the deal is a long way from finished because it needs to be circulated to European Union member countries, then if they agree, to all industry partners who have a stake in beef trade.

And after that it will need to be ratified by the European Union parliament.

But the agreement raises hopes that the long ban will be eased on U.S. beef. There have been concerns about U.S. farmers using hormones to improve cattle performance.
