With numbers ranging from the sacred to the hilarious, the second annual Christmas Celebration choral and orchestral concert was an unquestioned success.

From the opening strains of I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas through to the closing hilarity of The 12 Days After Christmas, the evening did much to raise both the sacred spirit and jovial camaraderie of the holiday.

A capacity crowd was treated to such treasures as March of the Toys, Still, Still, Still, Carol of the Bells and Away in a Manger by the members of the Half-Pint Singers, the Beaumont Junior Choir, the Beaumont Latter-Day Saints Choir, St. Vital Children’s Choir, Brass Ensemble and the Beaumont Adult Choir.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the original composition, Heavenly Peace by local Edmonton-based composer, Erin Craig, commissioned by the Beaumont Society for the Arts and performed by the Beaumont Choir Program singers with Tammy-Jo Mortensen at the organ and Corey Taylor on trumpet.

A visit from Santa Claus himself culminated in his narration of Twas the Night Before Christmas delightfully accompanied by the Brass Ensemble.

The evening was both a showcase to the extraordinary musical talent found in our truly unique town and an opportunity to share the remarkable good-will of the season.

The Christmas Celebration choral and orchestral concert is the flagship creation of the Beaumont Society for the Arts. It was made possible by the support of that Society, the Town of Beaumont, and Leduc County as well as the generous donations of those who attended.

Watch for it next year as it gets even bigger and better!
