OPP investigating human remains found in Elliot Lake

Human remains were found in a wooded area in Elliot Lake on Aug. 11, according to the East Algoma detachment of the OPP.

The investigation is ongoing and the area will be cordoned off for the next few days as a detailed analysis of the area is completed.

The OPP’s Canine Unit, Emergency Response Team, Unmanned Aerial System, Forensic Identification Services and East Algoma Crime Unit members, under the direction of Detective Insp. Martin Graha, are conducting the investigation.

The Office of the Chief Coroner-Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS) has also been called in.

More information will be shared as it becomes available, the OPP said.
