The community is now accepting nominations for the Ambassador of Action Business Award and the Award of Creative excellence.
The Town of Stony Plain is once more looking for creative and action-oriented businesses to honour.
The community is now accepting nominations for the Ambassador of Action Business Award and the Award of Creative excellence. They are presented to a local businesses that grow and improve while making a contribution to the community and ones that elevate creative culture and provides public engagement opportunity respectively. Both are given out at the chamber of commerce awards banquet in November.
Last year’s winners were Meridian Veterinary for the ambassador of action and the Blueberry Bluegrass Festival for the creative excellence honour. Town Culture and Tourism Development Officer Chantelle Laberge says the awards provide great exposure and are worth applying for even if cynical about winning.
“If you do not then you can never win,” she said. “For the creative award we had 11 nominations last year. Give it a shot, you never know who applies and who you could end up competing against for it.”
Businesses must have a valid license from the Town to be eligible for each award. Further criteria can be found on choosestonyplain.com/2019-awards and nominations are due by 2 p.m. on Sept. 18.
For Mayor William Choy, it represents a great way to honour a favourite place to shop.
“It is a quick and easy way to express your appreciation of our local ambassadors and cultural innovators for their hard work and commitment to our community,” he said in a press release.
