Kirkland Lake will play host to the Northeastern Ontario Mines and Minerals Symposium next week as a three-day conference takes place Oct. 16-19 at Northern College.
The Northern Prospector’s Association is hosting the symposium, entitled “Abitibi 2018: Today’s Technology – Tomorrow’s Discoveries.”
Kirkland Lake Gold president and CEO Tony Makuch will be guest speaker for the banquet dinner on opening night.
This informative geological and mining symposium will feature geological presentations by NRCAN-GSC, the mining industry, as well as poster booth displays in a trade show format. A post-meeting course with presentations by the Mineral Exploration Research Centre (MERC) updating current results from the Metal Earth Project will be held for delegates. Three post-symposium field trips are planned.
The Ministry of Energy Northern Development and Mines will have a special information and discussion session regarding the new Mining Land Administrative System. The session will take place on Wednesday October 17 in Board Room # 2 at Northern College in Kirkland Lake and is open to all registered delegates.
Tickets for the banquet dinner are available to the public to hear Makuch speak about Kirkland Lake Gold’s work on its new 7,000-foot # 4 shaft.
