A group of four from Sudbury said yes to Encore and won $100,000 in the Aug. 6 Lotto Max draw.
They matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order to win the $100,000 prize.
“I checked the ticket at the grocery store and ended up forgetting the groceries,” Mary Ellen Shepley of Sudbury, who purchased the ticket on behalf of the group, said in a release.
“It’s surreal,” she said as she and the group gathered at the OLG Prize Centre to collect their winnings.
The winners plan to use the prize money for upcoming birthday celebrations and a trip to Disneyland.
Other members of the group are Ari Pyykko, Christine Stumpf and Annu Lindroos, all of Sudbury
Ontario Lottery and Gaming said Encore can be played in conjunction with most online lottery games for an extra $1. There is an Encore draw every day.
The winning ticket was purchased at Sudbury Four Corners Your Independent Grocer on Regent Street in Sudbury.
