Dan and Arlene Glofcheskie, owners and operators of North Winds Farm, began hosting the Espanola Eat Local Farmers Market six years ago at the Queensway church parking lot in July, August and September.
Local vendors were invited to set up a table with their goods at a modest table fee, and for six years the Glofcheskies have been tucking away the funds raised by the participation fees.
On Thursday, Sept. 6, the market vendors presented a cheque for $500 to the Espanola Hospital Foundation represented by Michael Dunn. The funds will go towards the current fundraising incentive to replace the X-ray suite at the hospital, which is nearing at the end of its service life, said Dunn.
When an X-ray machine reaches a certain age, repair is not possible because parts are not available, explained Dunn.
The foundation for the hospital will be fundraising throughout the coming year to offset the cost of the new X-ray suite.
