Cornwall police charge man with assaults, sexual assault

A 30-year-old man from Cornwall is facing four charges after a police investigation into complaints dating back to November.

Police alleged the man inappropriately touched a woman he knew on Nov. 15, and that he struck her on Sunday along with two other men he knows.

Keven Bissonnette, 30, was charged with sexual assault and three counts of assault.

He was released from police custody to appear in Cornwall court on Jan. 10.

Assaults

A 36-year-old man from Cornwall is facing six charges after a police investigation into a complaint received Saturday.

Police alleged the man had assaulted his girlfriend three times between August and December, once with a glass. On two of the occasions, police alleged he also prevented her from leaving the residence. He was arrested Saturday.

The man, whose identity was not released, was charged with three counts of assault, two counts of forcible confinement, and, assault with a weapon.

He was held in police custody pending a bail hearing in Cornwall court.

Eight charges

A 24-year-old man from Cornwall facing eight charges after police responded to a complaint about a driver early Monday morning.

Police alleged the man was driving while under the influence of drugs, that he fled from police and collided with a fire hydrant on Marleau Avenue. Police also alleged he gave a brief foot chase before being taken into custody, when officers said they seized a quantity of cocaine from the man.

Dylan Jarvis, 24, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, flight from police, possession of cocaine, breaches of undertaking for possession drugs and failing to keep the peace and, breaches of probation for possessing drugs and failing to keep the peace.

He was held in police custody pending a bail hearing in Cornwall court.

Seven charges

A 24-year-old man from Cornwall is facing seven charges after a police investigation into his whereabouts on Saturday.

Police alleged the man was at a local bar and breaching his curfew. When taken into custody, police said officers seized a knife, crack cocaine, heroin and U.S. and Canadian cash from the man.

Daniel Legue, 24, was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking crack cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking heroin, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime, breach of recognizance for failing to abide by a curfew and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace.

He was held in police custody pending a bail hearing in Cornwall court.

Impaired

A 29-year-old man from Cornwall is facing a charge after police came upon him in his vehicle on Pitt Street on Sunday.

Police alleged the man was under the influence of alcohol while in care or control of a vehicle.

Cory Arial, 29, was charged with care or control of a motor vehicle while impaired.

He was released from police custody to appear in Cornwall court on Dec. 27.

Breaches

A 41-year-old man from Cornwall is facing four charges after a police investigation into his whereabouts and behaviour on Dec. 6.

Police alleged the man went to his ex-girlfriend’s residence on that day and removed a crossbow, despite being under conditions not to do so. Police also alleged the man put up a brief struggle when he was arrested on Friday.

The man, whose identity was not released, was charged with breach of probation for contacting and being with 25 metres of his ex-girlfriend, possessing a weapon and failing to keep the peace.

He was held in police custody pending a bail hearing in Cornwall court.

Theft, breaches

A 31-year-old man from Cornwall is facing three charges after police were contacted by a Second Street East business on Oct. 11.

The business alleged the man removed merchandise from the store without paying for it. He was arrested Friday.

Andy Courville, 31, was charged with theft under $5,000 and breaches of recognizance and probation for failing to keep the peace.

He was held in police custody pending a bail hearing in Cornwall court.

Theft, breaches

MORRISBURG — Two men are facing theft charges after OPP responded to a report of a theft from the Canadian Tire on County Road 2 on Dec. 2.

Police alleged Christopher McRoberts, 40, from North Dundas and Randy Froats, 23, from South Dundas, removed various items from the store.

On Dec, 7 they were arrested and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and failure to comply with conditions of an undertaking. Both men were held in police custody pending a bail hearing.

Itemstaken

SOUTH GLENGARRY — Sometime overnight on Dec. 7, a 2017 John Deere mini excavator and a 2009 Belmont SS1 black trailer was taken from a property on South Service Road.
