Myths and Mirrors Community Arts presents CAMPfire, an arts showcase featuring music and poetry by local youth on Thursday at Memorial Park in downtown Sudbury.

Starting at 7 p.m., this free event includes spoken word performances and music by acoustic alternative rock band Kick the Clouds. Local beatboxer and second place finisher at the Beatbox Battle World Championship, Emilie Carrey (better known as Sparx), also joins the lineup, along with other guests.

“We know it’s really important for young people to have a safe space to talk, explore and be creative,” Cora-Rae Silk, assistant art director for Myths and Mirrors, said in a release. “So over the summer, our summer staff hosted a series of art and poetry circles for young artists in the community to come and share their work.

“This event is really a celebration of that process and the work that’s been created this summer, but it also gives these talented young people an opportunity to present their art and share their voice with the larger community.”

While admission is free, donations are welcome. For more information, contact mythsandmirrors@gmail.com. This event is made possible thanks to the Canada Summer Jobs program.
