Bicycle-riding thief steals $8,500 in tools

Hand and power tools worth about $8,500 were stolen from a vehicle parked at a McGaughey Avenue business Saturday at about 11 pm.

Police say the thief was riding a bicycle.

Anyone with information that may assist police with this investigation is asked to call the North Bay Police Service at 705-497-5555 and select option 9 to speak to a police officer.

North Bay police remind the public to lock their vehicles and to not store valuable items in your vehicle. Take the time to reduce the likelihood of being a victim of crime.

It is recommended that expensive items not be stored in a vehicle. But if they must be stored in a vehicle, to keep them out of sight of prying eyes and would-be thieves.
