Assault, confinement charges laid in Sturgeon Falls incident

An individual has been charged with assault and confinement charges regarding an incident in Sturgeon Falls.

Nipissing West OPP said they received a report last week of an assault that occurred Nov. 25 at a residence on Highway 17 in Sturgeon Falls.

“Investigation revealed an altercation ensued between two people where one person was subsequently assaulted, threatened and confined,” the detachment said in a release. “The victim suffered minor injuries.”

As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained.

On the Wednesday morning, the accused turned himself into police and was arrested.

Daniel Tanguay, 29, of no fixed address, is charged with assault, uttering threats to cause bodily harm and damage property, and forcible confinement.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear at bail court on Dec. 5 in North Bay.
