The Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association has partnered with the provincial government to deliver more than 710,000 pounds of apples and root vegetables to schools which sold the produce to raise almost $350,000.

The money is invested in extra-curricular activities at almost 1,100 schools that have participated since the program was launched seven years ago.

“The OFVGA looks forward to continuing this partnership with government in 2020 to support school fundraising, access to local food and Ontario farmers.” Said Bill George Jr., chairman of the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association.

The program also involves education about farming in Ontario.
