The official reopening of the grandstand at Errol Russell Park dodged rain Saturday afternoon midway through the annual Stan Black Memorial Wood Bat Tournament. Included in the two-year project was a new concession stand and accessible seating, christened Saturday by fans of the hometown Sarnia Braves.

Plaques were on display at the grandstand reopening for Errol Russell, a pivotal figure in Sarnia sports for a generation, and Stanley Blake, founding member of the Sarnia Braves Baseball Organization. The field was renamed Errol Russell Memorial Park in 1959, five years after the Russell's death.
