Mustard Seed Theatre stages Cotton Patch Gospel

Mustard Seed Theatre is presenting the foot-stomping, blue grass musical Cotton Patch Gospel this weekend at Trinity United Church.

A cast of eight students, along with a five-piece blue grass band will take the stage Friday and Saturday evening at 7 pm, as well as Sunday at 1:30 pm.

Written by Tom Key and Russell Treyz, with music and lyrics by Harry Chapin, Cotton Patch Gospel is directed by Darlene Laferriere and stars Nick Babin, Colton Chaput, Joe Drinkwalter, Robert Leitner, Beatrice Lloyd, Hannah McCallum, Samantha Peddie and Emma Webster.

The Cotton Patch Band is comprised of Ted Chase on mandolin, Phil Cassell on banjo, Chris Clarke on harmonica and percussion, Brian Risk on bass and Marcel MacDonald on guitar.

Mustard Seed Theatre was created in 2007 to provide opportunities for youth to build community around a common love of theatre. The inaugural theatrical offering, Godspell, was performed in the spring of 2008. Since that time, it has produced about a dozen musicals for youth and young adults.
