Hansen behind the keyboard on Saturday

The person behind the scenes of a long-running concert series at St. Andrew’s United Church will sit in the spotlight Saturday night.

Devon Hansen, the music director at the church and organizer of the Saturdays at 7 series, will perform on the piano. Local guest soloists Christine Baribeau, Xander Bechard and Victoria Kimmerly will also be featured.

The program theme is heat, with songs about the sun and summer.

Hansen is originally from Windsor and also directs the church’s chancel choir. He began the Saturdays at 7 series six years ago and is responsible for bringing the Windsor Symphony Orchestra to Chatham.

The pianist has been accompanying vocalists, instrumentalists and dancers since an early age, and is currently involved in educational and outreach programs. He works with various community music events, including Theatre Kent and high school musicals.

Hansen, who has bachelor’s and a master’s degrees in music from Wayne State University, has also performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
